Before Day 000: Setting the starting principles
Today was the first day the ideas, face, and website behind Avvy began moving in the same direction.
The official timeline has not started yet. There are no results to show and no reason to call anything finished. Instead, I began by defining what I am building and the principles that will guide the next decisions.
Turning the heart of the brand into a document
I brought the scattered ideas together into a single brand strategy. Step by step, I defined the principles the project must protect, the first people it hopes to reach, the cultural context Avvy will inhabit, and the message and visual language around her.
A few principles became clear in the process:
- Show Avvy and her content before the company or technology.
- Let fan responses shape the next story while keeping final judgment and responsibility with a person.
- Do not present unrealized possibilities as achievements.
- Record the next result that actually changed instead of making sweeping promises.
I see a brand less as a perfect answer completed all at once and more as a direction that keeps being tested and refined around principles worth protecting.
Exploring Avvy’s face three times
I ran three visual explorations to find Avvy’s first impression. This was not simply about choosing a beautiful image. I also looked at whether she felt like the same person across different expressions and angles, and whether her identity could hold up through the stories ahead.
The third exploration established her current face anchor. That does not mean every expression is fixed forever. The recognizable center of Avvy will stay consistent while her hair, outfits, and the atmosphere of each scene expand with the story.
Building the first website
I also built the first landing page that turns the brand strategy into a real screen. It shows the project’s current state, introduces Avvy, explains how fan responses can shape the next scene, and makes room for the record that will grow over time.
I did not fill missing numbers as though they already existed. Places awaiting real records remain empty, ready to show dates and evidence once actual data arrives.
The website starts as a light, fast static site. I refined both mobile and desktop layouts, covered accessibility basics such as keyboard navigation and image descriptions, and optimized images for the web. For the initial release, I chose to keep the site focused on English rather than add localization before the core experience is ready.
Preparing to validate with records, not instinct
A strategy document alone is not enough. I separated the principles that should remain fixed from the assumptions that must be tested through real responses.
During the first 90 days, two things will matter more than one impressive number: whether people return for Avvy’s next story rather than the novelty of the project, and whether this small team can repeat the process without losing quality.
Views alone will not define success. Unexpected results will also become part of the record that informs the next decision.
What comes next
Now it is time to connect the documents and screens to an actual story.
- Prepare the first story and the Day 000 record.
- Move the content and growth record into a structure that can keep expanding on the website.
- Connect original content to the website record when the official channels open.
What I made today is not a finished result. It is a starting line designed to keep the project from drifting too easily.
Before Day 000. Avvy is still getting ready, but what to record—and how to record it—is now a little clearer.
